Signals and telecommunication

The group incorporates two centres of expertise, namely the Centre for Radio and Digital Communication (CRDC), as well as the Centre of Expertise in Teletraffic Engineering for the Invormation Society (CeTIIS). CRDC concentrates on telecommunication-related projects such as digital wireless radio communications (static and mobile), as well as multiple-access systems and the development of signalling protocols for mobile cellular communication networks. Activities include the development of high speed digital modems for microwave and satellite applications, the design and digital realisation of advanced error correction techniques, as well as the measurement, analysis, design and synthesis of appropriate fading channel models in the HF, BHF and UHF frequency bands. CeTIIS focusses primarily of the fixed network and information security, with specific reference to high security e-commerce. Activities include the design and implementation of algorithms and protocols for secure e-commerce in network and mobile radio environments.
