Estradiol metabolism in breast carcinoma

Our laboratory attempts to develop a novel diagnostic tool to predict susceptibility to develop breast cancer. There is an indication that strict regulation of estradiol metabolism in breast tissue is necessary for homeostasis of cell numbers and that disruption in the ratios of the different metabolites may give rise to uncontrolled cell growh with possible links to carcinogenesis
