Selected Highlights from Research Findings
It is possible to reduce seismic location error by a factor of 2 in all dimensions (volumetrically by a factor of 8) by applying multiple hypocentral location algorithms and wave similarity techniques. Some groundbreaking work on site effects on geophone installations also promises to add further improvements to location of seismic levels. This work is carried out with the support of the Safety in Mines Research Advisory Council (SIMRAC).
