Selected Highlights from Research Findings
It has thus far been accepted that the first internet activity in South Africa could be dated to late 1988, when en email message was sent from Rhodes university to a private home in the USA. From this research it seems that an underground email network of the Anglican Church (Church of the Province of South Africa) already existed a few months prior to the Rhodes email. By the end of 1987 or early 1988 this network was used to coordinate the anti-apartheid activities of the CPSA bishops, and to inform interested parties outside of the country about the arrests of church leadership. On one occasion international protests against such arrests reached the authorities before the police had confirmed that the arrest orders had in fact been carried out. The underground internet network was responsible for spreading news at such speeds.

Although Christians confess to regarding the whole Bible as equal, the last third (New Testament) feature much more prominently in their lives of faith than do the first two thirds (Old Testament). A few reasons are offered for this, the most important of which is that the Old Testament is misunderstood. This strange book collection from a strange culture is, quite naturally, liable to be interculturally misunderstood. The Old Testament is, however, an undervalued part of the Bible that could become a rich source for individual and church faith practice.
