Integration of technology in Nursing Education
This research is based on four pillars:
1. The use of computer software in the Nursing Science students' training;
2. The use of computer software by lecturers as support strategy for their teaching;
3. The development of subject specific software by lecturers;
4. The reason(s) for the slow integration of technology in Nursing Education.;
Distance education is included in the integration process of Information Technology in Nursing Education, and implies the use of both low and high technology . Low technology includes paper, telephone and facsimile, whereas high technology includes elctronic mail, the web, on-line learning, chatrooms, as well as the virtual campus. The integration process of technology is a gradual one, from junior to senior students, where contact time is slowly decreased. The development of information technology and software by lecturers takes place with the assistance of consultants
