Investigation of the interactions of pneumolysin with human neutrophils in vitro
This project has been designed to elucidate the involvement of the Streptococcus pneumoniae-derived toxin pneumolysin in the intense inflammatory reactions which are a feature of pneumococcal pneumonia and to devise strategies by which these pro-inflammatory actions of pneumolysin can be neutralised
