Diversity in undergraduate mathematics teaching
The issues to be addressed are to investigate the following aspects of
diversity at university level:
The diversity of our current student population with respect to composition, culture, background, language, preparedness and resources, the diversity of teaching methods along quality principles and the impact of this on student learning and achievement, the decline in the number of third year students enrolling for pure mathematics modules and the swing towards applied fields, the transition from school to university and how OBE will impact on this, the diversity of teaching methods including internet presentation of undergraduate mathematics courses and the possibility of flexible modes of assessment
