Selected Highlights from Research Findings

Biofilm, a natural plastic, with good functional properties has been produced from the protein of sorghum grain by Prof John Taylor and his research group. The research forms part of an international seven member EU sponsored project called Enviropak, which has the aim of developing biodegradable, edible films and coatings to extend the shelf-life of fruits and nuts exported from southern Africa to Europe.
