Optical Networks

There are 2 research fields: one relates to next generation networks, the other to all-optical packet switching. In the first, the issues relate to survivability and traffic behaviour and modelling, especially within the context of automatically switched optical networks. In the second field, research is done on optical buffering, cross-connect architectures, and optical signal processing. The signal processing relates to fundamental building blocks such as optical threshold functions, was well as cross-connect functionality like header processing.
