Selected Highlights from Research Findings
This research involves UP participation in the evaluation of the second participating group of the pilot project New Visions: Induction to Headship Programme undertaken by the National College for School Leadership (NCSL) in the United Kingdom. The work commenced in October 2003 and was completed in during 2004. The evaluation team conducted a survey of all 300 principals who were participants in the programme. In addition, the research team conducted six regional case studies involving 48 school leaders. The main findings point to the value of induction programmes through references to the quality of group leadership, cross-phase networking, opportunities for reflection, e-learning, programme content and leader facilitation.
