99m Tc-Sestamiti Scintimammographic evaluation of the mammae for carcinoma

Mammography is an excellent diagnostic intervention to evaluate the integrity of the mammae in respect of malignant degeneration. However, its sensitivity decreases ti kess van 70% in women with radiologically dense breasts. Considering the racial and socio-economic differences of the South African population, the relative simple technology and cost-effectiveness of radio-scintigraphy, which is not compromised by breast density, this project is undertaken to determine if scintimammography should not play a more improved role as rule-out-diagnostic protocol for breast-carcinoma
