Comparison of supervisor, self and peer assessments of medical students’ professional attitudes in clinical practice

The aim of the study was to determine how the assessments of supervisors and peers compare with the self-assessments of students. Four assessments of each student were done: one by his/her supervisor, the second by the student himself/herself and the third and fourth by two peers in the group of eight students. This scale contains six items on personal and professional qualities (attitudes), namely respect, empathy, good interpersonal relationships, responsibility, integrity and maturity. A scale ranging between 1 for poor and 9 for excellent was used for rating the sample, according to the criteria describing the observable behaviours (positive and negative) to be assessed for each item.
