Selected Highlights from Research Findings
Subsequent to my being external examiner of Dr Mokae's doctoral thesis on the life of Robert McBride, I was invited to edit the thesis for publication. The book was launched on 27 May 2004 at Pretoria Prison. The publication contains part of my review of the book plus a citation on the back cover pointing to its historical significance. A fullpage co-authored review of the text and Njabulo Ndebele's The Cry of Winnie Mandela appeared in Sowetan on Friday, 9 July 2004. These publications is of considerable local relevance.

Also of considerable local and international relevance was the launch of Dr Koyana's monograph on Sindiwe Magona, published by the University of Kwazulu Natal Press. The text was begun when Dr Koyana, current Head of the Thutuka Women in Research group at the NRF was a postdoctoral Research Fellow under Prof Gray in the Department of English. The launch took place in UP's Information Centre and was hosted by the Deputy Director of the AIS, Robert Moropo.
