Thrombosis and haemostasis: Thrombophilia

The biochemical risk factors involved in the inherited tendency towards venous thrombo-embolism is being evaluated prospectively. These include antithrombin III, protein C and protein S deficiency, resistance to activated protein C, defective fibrinolysis dysfibrinogenaemia and defects in the antithrombogenic function of vascular endothelium
